Take 3 cranky kids, fill one pool and you've got a recipe for a peaceful afternoon. It's absolutely amazing how one small thing can change the course of the day. I had been trying to get some things done around the house. The kids were constantly in and out the door. If Papa came down and was in the yard, well they were happy as flies on poop to follow him around "helping" him garden. The min
After that I have announced yesterday that my husband and I co-authored a blog, now I am feeling that the blog will be abandoned or be changed into something else. Something terrible came up that I couldn’t disclose it here. For my real friends, I think you know where to find that super personal blog [...]
I’ve mentioned before that I really enjoy Jessica Gottlieb. He blog posts are usually humorous or thought provoking…or both. But really, the thing that I like about her is, she tells it like it is. Which, I admire. And I think it’s an important quality to have when you’re blogging. [...]
The story of four inspiring individuals who sacrificed for American Freedoms that we must continue to fight to preserve.
I found this picture here. This morning I modified Tyler Florence’s Banana Pecan Pancake Recipe and made Belgian waffles with strawberries. My recipe goes something like this: 2 cups flour 2 cups organic vanilla soy milk 3 tsp. butter (melted) 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder 3 eggs 4 tbs. sugar pinch of salt Mix eggs and milk together, slowly blend in dry ingredients, and add [...]
You know there is stuff going down. Stuff I resent but can't say no to. Someone shoot me and put me out of my misery all ready. There is a particular family dynamic going on here that is... well... difficult. If I say no than I'm a selfish bitch. If I say yes I'm going to be sacrificing a LOT for the next week. There is something about this situation that sounds a lot like B-A-B-Y-S-I-T-T-I-N

Today we celebrate our freedom. Our Independence Day. Our Liberty and Justice. We have many symbols of our patriotism; the flag, the colors of red, white, and blue, the American Eagle, and the Statue of Liberty.I have only visited the Statue once. Pretty pathetic, as I live in New Jersey. Mr. Schmitty and I, back when we were dating, took a day to explore Ellis Island and the Statue.I couldn't wai
Bossy’s friend Ella prepares for her debut in the pet parade, July 2009.
Happy 4th of July! This morning my niece, Prima Ballerina, was a majorette in the parade. I had my camera on Auto Focus, and apparently, Carl's Jr was a more interesting shot - so that was what was focused on.We had some Cowboys shooting blanks that scared the crap out of me because I wasn't expecting it.And one in a bathtub. We had monkeys in trunks.A girl on a pony.George Washington.Basically,
How are you celebrating America’s 233 years of freedom?Do this first: Thank all our troops on the front lines and all our veterans who have served and sacrificed for that freedom. I hope that everyone has a fabulous and safe 4th of July! I have no idea what are plans are but I am sure we will have fun!AMERICA (MY COUNTRY 'TIS OF THEE)My country 'tis of thee, Sweet land of liberty, Of thee I sing,

We had a great time out boating around the Gulf Shores area with some of Bill's co-workers. All the kids that came did great and were so super cute in their life jackets, too! Today I had planned on sharing a video of my toddler reciting "The Pledge of Allegiance", but as you can see, there is no video. We practiced all week long, saying the pledge a few times a day, and Little Dude has done GREAT

September 11th, 2001 changed my life (as it did everyone's) in a whole bunch of ways. I experienced fear that I had not and have never again imagined as I tried to contact my dad who was supposed to be in NYC that morning for business but got delayed in Washington D.C. and was near the Pentagon when it was bit by one of the hijacked planes. I ended up becoming a bride several months earlier than p
Happy Birthday America! Part of what makes you so great is your food. Now I’m not going to get all “who owns what food stereotype” on you because I did that with Green Jell-o a few weeks ago and it got ugly. Only because I was totally right (that Mormons OWN the Green Jell-o title) and the [...]
I just got this link via Walter Pike on Twitter about a new dinosaur species that’s been discovered in Australia. As I started reading it, I realised that Bradley needed to hear the story too. For the last few months, he’s been saying that he thinks that paleontologists won’t be able to find new dinosaurs anymore, [...]
Last Saturday I called the Animal Control line, which is the non-emergency number for the county sheriff. I told the competent phone-answerer lady about the attack dog next door that throws his body at us (at the fence) whenever he hears us moving about the yard. He barks as if we are stray little chicks [...]

Just in case anyone was concerned over my near total meltdown on Thursday, I'm feeling much better. Those size 6 pants worked wonders. If I could bottle the feeling of fitting in those pants and sell it I might be a gazillionaire of some sort. Kind of like Joy Mangano who I always see on HSN or QVC laughing all the way to the bank as she sells cushiony hangers. Why did I think of selling colored sq

My hopes for sleeping in after a late night study session and mid-term exam work were dashed quickly this morning by the ringing of the phone. I’m not going to complain (too much), though, because I did manage to get in 8 hours of GOOD sleep. Which, in comparison to what I went through last week, is great. I’m happy about finishing my mid-term for Ethics class, and am equally as happy about the
Diary of a Dog vs Diary of a Cat is so funny because it's true! I'm recycling some posts this week because of the long holiday weekend. This cracks me up, enjoy it! DIARY of a DOG (Picture above is our giant Yellow Lab, Max) 8:00 am - Dog food! ...
Each one of us have probably hear a story or two about a woamn who didn't know she was pregnant until the baby came out. I know. It vould be hilarious sometimes. But the such cases can be alarming...
My husband and I cracked up laughing when we watched “Head of State”, starring comedian Chris Rock back in 2003. In the movie, a Black man becomes president of the United States (way before the reality of Barack Obama). Every time his competitor (the current VP) makes a speech, he ends it proclaiming [...]

Happy Independence Day!It's funny how strong bold colors put on a piece of material can stir emotions within a person who truly cares for what it stands for.Since I'm not here and am ON a Blog Break I thought I would send you to this post (Cause remember I am still reading YOUR posts and commenting)... there is always something about reading someone's words that truly feels passionate about what t
Some days you have to be random. Today is my day. Because really I’ve been random all week. Like when I write and read. I’ve been spending the week at my parent’s house during naptime, working on sewing a dress to wear to my brother’s wedding. Every day brought a panic attack as I stared [...]

On July 1st, American neighbour K flipped me this link to an article in the NY Times. 11 Canadians living the US shared what they missed most about home. So on this 4th of July I've decided to pay homage to our neighbours south of the 49th by sharing what I love most about the USA. TARGET -it goes without say that Taret is generally the numero uno reason I love crossing the border. I
What better way to celebrate Independence Day than by taking the day off from blogging? Here's hoping that you and your family have a safe, happy 4th of July. And if you're not American, I'm sure there's something you can celebrate while you're waiting....I would love to hear about it :)
I'm a huge fan of Big Love, I love the characters, the story line, etc. I don't believe in plural marriages but I can tell you there have been several times when the idea didn't seem so bad. Imagine having another wife to help with all the daily routines of the house. Someone who shares in what being in your family is really like and being married to your husband is really like. On the bad day

I signed up for the MckLinky monthly blog hop and then being my usual forgetful self, failed to put up a post about it. The theme this month is introductions. My failure to post about it probably says more than I can in words. My name is Stacey. I am a nearly 42 year old, married, SAHM of 2 boys, Havoc age 6 and Mayhem age 5. I used to be a data analyst and am still a data geek. I do var
It is a busy 4th of July weekend. And I know few people read blogs on holiday weekends - so I thought I would just share some recent photos. For a change - I actually have been doing some landscape photography. It is a nice change of pace. Something I used to do all the time, but something that has taken a backseat to my budding portrait photography pursuits.I stopped out at our local lake for

This is a guest post by Bill Hardekopf, CEO of LowCards.com. Senator Charles Schumer called on the Federal Reserve to immediately limit rate increases on existing credit card balances. Today's guest post is by two of my favorite people out there in cyberspace. Christie and Wifey (she has a real name but everyone calls her that so I shall to). They come to us today as The BlogRollers. For their guest post, Wifey attempts (and as you will see pretty much succeeds, shame on you Christie LOL) to stump Christie with some totally Toni trivia. Try saying that 3 times fast.Note from
